today, i was out buying breakfast and lunch for myself.. yes me, buying breakfast and lunch at the market for myself.. so anyway, i notice this mum and daughter waiting in line for the atm.. i was behind them wanting to use the atm too.. i was minding my own business when i notice like whisp of smoke coming in from the right.. it was from a guy who was smoking.. well, he was smoking at the smoking section at mc donald.. but yeah anyway, he was smoking LEGALLY.
so yeah ,the mum took out 2 tissues.. 1 for her, 1 for her daughter.. place on the nose and breath through that.. honestly, i dont get the whole deal.. yes you have all the right to protect yourself from harmful stuff like passive cigarette smoke and all but doesnt it going a tat overboard? why? cos firstly that tissue paper wont prevent anything from coming into the lungs.. the pores are just too big..
secondly, how bout the fumes we breath in everyday since the fact that we live in city.. from the car, the industries and such? its just that, its a everyday thing and for those who drive, it didnt occur to them they are doing just that.. well yeah, the stuff that goes in the air are as bad as the ones for those cigarette or maybe even worst?? depending on situations
thirdly, how protective do you want to be of your kid in terms of these kind of stuff and for yourself?? i mean, I believe that the reason why HFMD are so widespread is because every other kid is just too darn clean that even abit of germs and bacteria and bad stuff can send them sick to the doctor.. when i was a kid back then.. i played anywhere and everywhere.. i got myself into all sort of dirt.. even canal water =)
forthly, there are risk in everything and anything.. that whisp of smoke you cover may not kill you but the fumes from the exhaust might? i will never know.. and fact is, we are in a gracious democratic harmonious society where tolerance is something we shouldnt take for granted.. so yeah, lets just act normal and no need to over react to things..
smoke on the water.
