yesterday, i had to report back to OCS for a commander OCS farewell speech and taking of the officer creed in the ceremonial hall of SAFTI MI. after that, commander left and our SSM had a small farewell speech with us as well.. to be honest, as compared to the ACPC, to the actual commissioning parade and what not, the part where SSM talked to us was what i felt to be the most heart tugging..
its funny aint it? the cadets, i didnt exactly see the SSM much except for the last 2 weeks of our 38 weeks stay in OCS.. and that is a whole day of parade drills and rehearsals.. 2 weeks if you think about it as compared to 38 weeks in total is kinda short ah =) maybe its his way of teaching and how he interacts with the guys.. funny thing is, before i knew him, everybody was practically scared of him, but when we do see him in person and all..
lol its all ok.. yeah, we do get push ups, get to run around the parade square, get to hentak kaki till there are rust stains on the floor.. but its all fun! can you imagine that! the way he scold us, his jokes and all.. hahahaha are just damn funny ah!
anyway back to the farewell speech, yeah he gave us a short saying and i was like, man im soo gonna miss him.. then he like "congratulations!" then he saluted all of us.. can you imagine that? a Master warrant officer saluting a group of young 2nd lt.. man, that really touched me.. i dont know why.. i guess cos i could really feel the sincerity in it? you know? certain things can be felt one by oneself and that is just one of that certain things..
then once he salutes, we all saluted, cut down and all, he walked out of the ceremonial hall, everybody clap that CLAP.. its that clap that really comes from the heart and goes to the heart =) man, i think that feeling, was the best feeling throughout my journey of commissioning from the parade till then =) weird aint it?
well my heartful and sincere thanks to SSM MWo Benedict Goh! i personally felt that the actual parade could be better but none the less, rest assured i didnt give any less than 100% effort during all of the rehearsals =D
